Girardi, Yanks Win Opener
Via http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280401110
Mariano Rivera worked a perfect ninth for the save and handed Girardi the souvenir ball from the final out as the sellout crowd of 55,112 roared.
"He just congratulated me and he said that's No. 1 and let's get a lot more," Girardi said. "It's a neat moment for me."
Definitely can't say I'm a Yankees fan, but I'm pulling for Girardi and his team to have a lot of success this season.
Now, as for when the Cubs come calling in a few years....

I still hold out hope Girardi will one day
manage the Cubs, but I have a feeling he'll be with the Yankees longer than Lou is with the Cubs. Don Mattingly is from my hometown, so the Yankees were my favorite American League team growing up. I hope Girardi and the Yankees make it to the Series this year, but lose to the Cubs, of course.

I have a feeling...
... Girardi is going to have a very tough year.

Do you mean...
W-L wise, or just dealing with Yankee headaches? (Or both, I suppose.)

Probably will be quite prescient.

True that...
that offense looked dialed in last night though, which is great. But if Toronto quits acting like they're shopping at KMart and gets an impact bat, the Yankees could easily finish in 3rd place.

I'm the same
I dont like NY but I like Joe. I think he got shafted in FL. I'd love to see the Cubs and Yanks in the Series.

I dislike Joe Girardi
He's a self-promoting, self-absorbed jerk very much in the mold of Tony LaRussa. I want him anywhere but the Cub dugout. Lou Piniella is 10 times the manager Girardi will ever be.
